Lyme Crime is a brand new crime & thriller festival launching in June 2020 at the Marine Theatre, in historic Lyme Regis.
The festival will bring the very best talents in crime & thriller fiction to Lyme Regis for a relaxed weekend of talks, conversations, panels and other events, including Noir at the Bar, an evening in a local pub where crime writers (established, emerging and would-be) will read from their work. Serendip, the town's independent bookseller, will set up shop in the theatre for the weekend, so visitors can buy signed copies of participating authors' titles.
Lyme Crime aims to be an annual event which draws crime & thriller authors and readers to the town to celebrate what is now the UK's favourite fiction genre. The festival will embrace it broadly, featuring authors writing every shade of crime - psychological, procedural, historic, Gothic, spy, cosy and more. It will also bring leading figures from the police and forensic professions to shed light on other aspects of this fascinating subject.
Coronavirus update - 24th March, 2020 You probably won’t be surprised to learn that Lyme Crime has been cancelled. We are so sorry it’s taken until now to confirm what may have been obvious to you all for some time. We were watching and waiting for more hopeful news and, to be honest, struggling to process the daily shift in reality, so apologies for not announcing this earlier.
The Marine Theatre, our lovely venue, have offered us the weekend of 25th to 27th June 2021. We hope very much you’ll join us then.
In this difficult time for the arts, the theatre have asked ticket holders to consider waiving their refund as a donation. It would make a real difference to this small venue and be much appreciated
Take care of yourself and your loved ones, and see you before long for a weekend by the sea in Dorset.
